About Banking Converter

Banking Converter is a bank statement converter with a reconciliation engine. It exists because extracting numbers from a PDF is easy to get subtly wrong, and a spreadsheet that is silently missing a row is worse than no spreadsheet at all.

Who operates the service

Banking Converter is operated by Banking Converter. Support and legal enquiries go to [email protected]. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any bank or accounting software vendor; product names on this site identify formats and destinations, nothing more.

What we optimise for, in order

  1. Financial accuracy: every conversion is reconciled and the result is shown, not hidden.
  2. Privacy: short retention, deletion on request, masked identifiers, redacted logs.
  3. Reliability: deterministic parsing, validated exports, honest error codes.
  4. Speed, ease of use, and everything else.

How the converter is built and tested

The engine parses regional date and number formats, detects transaction tables from page structure rather than per-bank templates, reconciles balances, and writes CSV, Excel, JSON, OFX and QBO with round-trip validation. It is tested against a golden set of synthetic statements covering eight regions, credit cards, multi-page and multi-account documents, and scanned, rotated and noisy pages. We publish which layouts are tested on the supported banks page and do not quote real-world accuracy figures we cannot substantiate.

Editorial content

Guides on this site are written by the Banking Converter editorial team, the engineers who build the converter. They describe how statements and file formats work and how the software behaves. They are not financial, legal or tax advice.
